About

Haywantee holds a PhD in Tourism, supervised by Prof. Muzaffer Uysal and Dr. Keith Brown. Her doctoral thesis focuses on developing and testing a model explaining cultural consumption: the case of Mauritius. She has been a visiting scholar at Virginia Tech University, USA. She received a Masters of Science degree in Tourism, Conservation and Sustainable Development from University of Greenwich, UK and her Bachelors degree is in Philosophy from University of Pune, India.

Haywantee is currently reading for a PhD in Management at Monash University, Australia for which she has been awarded an international doctoral scholarship. Her current research draws from the environmental psychology literature and focuses on place attachment and pro-environmental behavior in national parks. She is working under the guidance of Prof.  Betty Weiler and Dr. Liam Smith.

Haywantee holds a lecturing position in the School of Sustainable Development and Tourism at the University of Technology, Mauritius. She currently teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate tourism programs at Monash University. She writes and publishes on a range of issues in Sustainable Tourism Development. Her research has been published in reputed journals such as Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Tourism Analysis, and Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research. She serves on the editorial board of a few journals and is a reviewer for several Tier 1 tourism journals. She is a joint recipient of research grants and an active member of the Australia International Tourism Research Unit.
