About
I am currently waiting for the examination of my thesis to be finalised so that I can attain my Masters of Education. I completed my Bachelor of Education at Rusden State College in 1981. I have found that returning to studies as a mature adult has been stimulating and rewarding.
I currently teach at the newly merged Dandenong High School, coming from the former Cleeland Secondary College. Cleeland SC along with Doveton SC and Dandenong High School have merged with a multi-million dollar rebuild with state of the art SWiS (Schools With in Schools). So far 3 SWiS are completed, the other 4 are just starting. The future has 7 SWiS, each holding 50 students at each year level - a total of 300 students - with 25 staff. With a ratio of 3 staff to 50 students in almost all subject areas.(exceptions are practical classes such as PE, Design/Tech, Food Tech etc)
I am a Leading Teacher and currently one of the Senior School Coordinators and my main teaching area is in Health and Human Development.
I am passionate about the students who make up our school as so many of them come from CLED backgrounds. Many are refugees from Afghanistan and Africa. Over 60% of the student cohort have only been in Australia for less than 2 years. The challenges are high, the rewards are many. The stories and experiences of these children makes Dandenong High School unique.
